Nutrition Ink, Inc. wants everyone, including the facility staff, students and families who visit this site, to be able to use it. Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.

What that means in practice

  • Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator and a "skip to main content" link.
  • Pages use proper headings and landmarks so screen readers can navigate them.
  • Text and interface colors meet the contrast ratios WCAG requires, and text can be enlarged to 200% without loss of content.
  • Every form field has a label; required fields are marked in text; errors are described in text.
  • Images that carry information have text alternatives; decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
  • The site respects your operating system's reduced-motion setting, contains no autoplaying media and nothing that flashes.
  • The site works on screens as narrow as 320 pixels without horizontal scrolling.

How we test

Automated accessibility checks run on every page each time the site is built, and the build fails if they find a violation. Before launch and after significant changes, a person also tests the site with keyboard-only navigation, a screen reader (VoiceOver and NVDA) and 200% zoom.

Known limitations

  • Documents provided as PDF downloads (the internship brochure and rotation schedule) may not yet be fully tagged for screen readers. Ask us and we will provide the content in another format. [VERIFY: update once PDFs are checked or replaced]
  • MenuCentralâ„¢ and the staff portal are separate applications with their own accessibility work in progress.
